Position Overview: 

In partnership with the President and CEO, the Director of Development will plan and implement a development and fundraising program to provide for the short- and long-term needs of the organization. Part-time hours range from 20-25 hours per week with hybrid flexibility.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • In collaboration with the President and CEO:

    • Determine the mission, purpose and priorities of TWC.

    • Create TWC’s annual development strategy and implementation plan.

  • Lead TWC’s individual giving program, directing the engagement of the CEO, Board and other internal stakeholders.

  • Set annual monetary goals and budgets according to short- and long-term goals.

  • Establish fundraising objectives for the organization, setting one year, five year, and longer-term goals.

  • Maintain a list of potential financial donors including corporations, foundations, and individuals.

  • Produce relevant and informative fundraising literature for distribution to previous donors and the public.

  • Cultivate relationships and sustainable partnerships with the community.

  • Research potential sources of, and apply for, grants and public funding and oversee the contracted grant-writing and/or institutional fundraising support

  • Oversee the fundraising process and maintain records of receipts and disbursements of funds.

  • Plan fundraising events that effectively communicate the purposes of the organization.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the financial development office and staff.

  • Assign, plan, and oversee the work of departmental staff and volunteers.

  • Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.  

  • Handles discipline and termination of employees as needed and in accordance with company policy.

Experience/Education/Certifications:

  • Five plus years of experience in fundraising for a nonprofit organization is highly preferred.

  • Knowledge of tax planning principles and techniques that favor charitable giving.

  • Extensive knowledge of fundraising strategies and principles.

  • Excellent management and supervisory skills.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or similar field preferred.

Computer/Technology:

  • Excellent Word, Excel, and Windows file management skills mandatory.

  • Demonstrated web research skills.

  • Familiarity with Outlook, Google or similar network-based email and calendar software.

  • Must be able to work independently in a stable remote environment.

Communication:

  • Ability to communicate verbally across all levels of the organization in a clear, concise and confident manner.

  • Ability to write accurate, clear and organized communications, incorporating a range of information and analysis. 

  • Ability to document workflow and procedures.

Compensation and Benefits:

The salary range for this position is between $40,000 - $45,000.
